Through mind maps and research, I uncovered that much of what Newport Beach is known for ties into its beaches and watersports. I also found that action sports videography, espe-cially involving surfing, holds a prominent place in the history of the Newport Beach Film Fest. This made me aim to embody the energy of the ocean through my color palette and shape language used in the rebrand.

What is Newport Beach known for? What are some details and history about NBFF that I could use to kickstart my design process? Starting the process out with mindmaps drew my focus to what Newport Beach is known for. I discovered that so much of what Newport Beach is known for ties into its beaches, especially watersports. Meanwhile, action sports videography, especially involving surfing, has a prominent part in the history of Newport Beach Film Fest. This made me aim to embody the energy of the ocean through my color usage and the main logo for the newly made branding.
